ESPN has it that GM Mitch Kupchak has talked to the Minnesota Timberwolves about Michael Beasley. The Lakers were actually in discussions with Minnesota about a potential trade for Beasley before the season started, the site notes. If they would have been able to pull off the deal for Chris Paul, there is a good chance that a trade for Beasley would have followed.

Who the Lakers would give up in such a deal remains unclear, the site notes, but Pau Gasols name hasnt come up.ESPN also reports that the team could still sign free-agent point guard Gilbert Arenas if it cant land someone like the Cleveland Cavaliers Ramon Sessions in a trade.

Beasley is averaging 12.6 points, 5.5 rebounds and 1.1 assists per game.

Agent Terry Watson and team execs are supposed to meet up at the NFL combine later this week to discuss the contract further. It is more of a wait-and-see situation, depending on how the conversation goes when we do meet, Watson said Monday, according to the Tennessean. It is up to the Titans to be able to show Cortland what their mindset is, where things are. And the only way that can be done is through the use of numbers composed in a contract of some sort, and that hasnt happened to this point.

An MRI Monday showed Ginobili has a left internal oblique strain while backup center Splitter has a right calf strain, the paper reports.

At that point, Cashman called Sabathia in to have a meeting to discuss his growing frame with him, trainer Steve Donahue and manager Joe Girardi. According to the Daily News, Cashman called the meeting tough and awkward.

Sabathia seems to have responded well even if he didnt think the weight was an issue: Its up to me to take away any possible factors, he said, the paper reports, and be ready and strong the whole year.
